PROJECT UPDATE as of August 15: When the fundraising goal was met on April 6, renovation commenced at full-speed! VWAM's Executive Director, Chuck Ward, visited the clinic site for a third time on July 23. Renovation and new construction had fallen slightly behind schedule due to inclement weather (unusually heavy rain ahead of the monsoon season). The project's official completion date is now set for some time between August 30 and September 6, 2010. It was reported earlier that the groundbreaking did take place on March 19 in a traditional Vietnamese ceremony that began at 5.30 that morning which is considered a good hour and day in the Lunar calendar in this culture. Dr. Huynh Bai Tan, Director of the Da Nang Center For Reproductive Health, the Assistant Director Dr. Quang Van Ngo, and the contractor symbolically placed the cornerstone that same morning. The dedication is now set for October 4 or 5, and Chuck Ward will participate in the ceremony. Also, a plaque will be unveiled at this grand opening that will credit Vets With A Mission and list each of the donors to the project in appreciation for their support.
